Jackson and Josephine counties continue to face significant challenges related to child poverty and food insecurity. Jackson County, with a population of 222,563, has 14% of children living in poverty and 13.8% of residents experiencing food insecurity. In neighboring Josephine County, where the population is 88,069, the situation is even more severe, with 20.7% of children living in poverty and 16% of the population facing food insecurity. These statistics, reported by The Ford Family Foundation, highlight the ongoing need for community support and resources across the region.
